There were 76 responses from 26 countries to a survey that was widely distributed on the internet to officers of all member societies of the EFCS, members of the Editorial Advisory Board of Cytopathology and representatives of societies affiliated to the journal. The results present the essential requirements for medical training in cytopathology, give examples of good practice as well as deficiencies, and provide recommendations for change. The recommendations will be taken up by a working party of the EFCS, which aims to produce European guidelines for training, examination and accreditation in cytopathology based on prior training in histopathology.
Please download the survey report – and also the three editorials in the same issue from the USA, UK and continental Europe.
