Bonjour !

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Paris will host the 31st European Congress of Cytology, which will convene at the Palais des Congrès, from 2 to 5 October 2005.

Organised by the French Society of Clinical Cytology (SFCC) on behalf of the European Federation of Cytology Societies (EFCS), this major annual scientific and medical event will gather cytopathologists, pathologists, cytotechnologists as well as physicians, biologists
and scientists, who will exchange their professional experiences and their most recent results in the field of cytopathology.

A great effort will be made to highlight important topics such as:

§ Screening of cancer using exfoliative cytology (conventional and liquid-based);
§ Implementation of immunocytochemical and molecular tools in the armamentarium of cytology for improving tumor diagnosis and prognosis;
§ Use of advanced imaging and genetic techniques applicable to cytological material for tailoring cancer patient management;
§ Optimization of procedures combining fine-needle aspiration cytology and core-needle biopsy approaches guided by radiologists.

In addition, and in order to obtain an even wider coverage of the discipline, we encourage you all, specially young investigators, to submit your work which will be presented in oral and poster sessions.

The diversity and interactivity of the scientific sessions, the facilities of the Palais des Congrès and all Paris has to offer, make up a wonderful combination for bridging people from the international community.
