A comprehensive review by Cubie and Cuschieri is selected as Editor’s Choice for FREE access during October and November. The authors, who both have immense experience of developing these tests in the UK screening programmes, explain the virology and accuracy of the wide array of HPV tests available for cervical cancer screening and other applications as well. Dudding and Crossley, referring to the review, explain their concerns that the sensitivity of HPV testing may be lower than expected for primary cervical screening. Correspondence and debate on these topics would be welcomed.
