There were 60 participants from 12 countries (Norway=32, Denmark=6, Sweden=4, Finland=1, Netherlands=8, Austria=1, UK=1, USA=1, Croatia=2, Serbia=1, Romania=2 and Bulgaria=1).
The programme spanned the majority of topics within cytopathology: cervical cytology, urine, effusions, respiratory cytology including EBUS, biliary tract as well as fine needle aspiration cytology of thyroid, lymph nodes, salivary glands and breast.
The lecturers came from Norway (4), UK (2), Sweden (2), Finland (1), Austria (1), Czech republic (1) and Croatia (1).
Cervical cytology occupied almost two full days and included both conventional and liquid based preparations, discussing different features of the two methods, pitfalls, look-alikes, and both squamous and glandular lesions.
The tutorial was organised with an emphasis on microscopy and the participants had 1 ½ hrs time for workshop in each topic. This gave them an opportunity to see a large number of good, diagnostic specimens from a broad spectrum of diagnostic entities. The concept was well received among the participants and the evaluation sheets gave a very good feedback to topics and lecturers as well.
The social programme included a welcome reception and a visit to a music museum with light refreshments.
