REGULATIONS

OF THE EUROPEAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF CYTOTECHNOLOGY (EACC) OF THE EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF CYTOLOGY SOCIETIES (EFCS)

 

The EACC’s aims and activities include all subjects concerning the Cytotechnologist (CT) profession.

The committee is composed of Members, Chairperson and Secretary.

EACC is responsible for the European Special Session for Cytotechnologist to be organized and held during the European Congress of Cytology in co-operation with the host country.

The Annual EACC meeting takes place at every European Congress of Cytology.

At least half of the members must be present or represented at the meeting in order to make voting, decisions or changes. Members, Chairperson and Secretary have a right to vote.

A non member can attend the meeting only if approval is given by the Chairperson and the Secretary of EACC. If the Member is represented by non member, that person does not have a right to vote.

Decisions are taken by simple majority of the votes. In the event of an equality of votes, the Chairperson or the one who chairs the meeting will have the casting vote.

Membership

Membership in the EACC is by National Society and not by individual. Members are nominated to sit in the EACC by the National Cytotechnology/Cytology Society in their home country; preferably one per European country. If more than one National Society exists in the country, it is possible that each Society have a member in EACC.

Request for admission

A request for admission of a National Cytotechnology/Cytology Society representative person for membership shall be submitted to the Chairperson and Secretary of the EACC accompanied with a recommendation letter from the Chairperson or Secretary of the National Cytotechnology/Cytology Society that contains personal data of the proposed member/representative:

  • name, surname, institution and address of employment
  • contact telephone number, e-mail address
  • full name and web site of the National Society which the mentioned person represent

An EACC member should meet the following requirements:

  • must be a member and elected representative of the National Cytotechnology/Cytology Society represented in the EACC
  • should preferably serve for at least 4 years with the possibility of extending the membership
  • a retiring member is succeeded by a Cytotechnologist elected in his/her country
  • live and work in a country that a member represents
  • be reasonably fluent in written and oral English
  • be a highly qualified Cytotechnologist with experience in the Cytotechnology profession
  • be familiar with the national situation related to Cytotechnology, eg education, certification and status, tasks and responsibilities, salaries, continuing education, etc
  • should have experience at managerial level (i.e. chief CT, member of a professional board, teacher…)
  • to be in a position to attend European Cytology Congresses, participate at the Annual EACC meeting and the Special Session for Cytotechnologists
  • to actively participate within Special Session for Cytotechnologists
  • to suggest subjects and actively participate in discussion at the EACC meetings
  • to invite Cytotechnologists from his/her own country to actively contribute to the Special Session for Cytotechnologists
  • notify the Secretary on any changes in personal and National Society data

Chairperson of the EACC

  • must be a Secretary of the EACC at least for a one mandate before carrying out the mandate of the Chairperson
  • should preferably serve for at least 4 years with the possibility of re-election

 

Responsibilities:

  • with commitment and active work contributes to the reputation, position and progress of EACC
  • officially represent EACC, cooperate with other professional organizations/societies together with the EACC Secretary on behalf of the EACC
  • chair the Annual EACC Meeting (in a case of inability to attend the Secretary chairs)
  • together with a EACC Secretary suggest, prepare and approve Agenda for the EACC Meeting
  • together with the Secretary of the EACC, invites the Secretary General of the EFCS to the Annual Meeting
  • chair the Special Session for Cytotechnologists at the European Congress of Cytology and choose/invite co-chair
  • together with the Secretary, arrange, invite and select lecturers for the Special Session for Cytotechnologist
  • must be included in all correspondence regarding the EACC (mail, e-mail) and approve all EACC documents
  • together with the Secretary consider, decide and approve requests for membership of new members in the EACC
  • approves together with the Secretary all the material for publication on the EACC website
  • the newly elected Chairperson, together with the Secretary, will request renewal for Advisory member position in the EFCS

Secretary of the EACC

  • must be a member of the EACC for at least 4 years and elected by the EACC members
  • should preferably serve for 4 years with the possibility of re-election
  • when the Chairperson retires, the Secretary automatically replaces the Chairperson

Responsibilities:

  • with commitment and active work contributes to the reputation, position and progress of EACC
  • officially together with the Chairperson of EACC, represent EACC and cooperate with other professional organizations/societies on behalf of the EACC
  • together with the EACC Chairperson, consider, decide and approve requests for membership of new members
  • updates the EACC member list and takes care of EACC documents
  • organizes the venue, time and concerns about the additional needs for the Annual Meeting
  • in collaboration with the Chairperson draw up and distribute the Agenda for the Annual EACC Meeting
  • together with the Chairperson of the EACC, invites the Secretary General of the EFCS to the Annual Meeting
  • record and after approval of the EACC Chairperson, send the Minutes of the meeting to the EACC members within 2 months
  • send a copy of the Minutes to the Secretary of the EFCS
  • together with the Chairperson organize the Special Session for Cytotechnologists at the European Congress of Cytology in co-operation with the EACC members and the National EACC representative of the host country
  • regularly and timely inform the members of EACC of any changes and updates
  • approves together with the Chairperson all the material for publication on the EACC website
  • the newly elected Secretary, together with a Chairperson, will request renewal for Advisory Member position in the EFCS
