This category accounts for 60-75% of the cytologic reports. It includes colloid goiter, autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s) and granulomatous thyroiditis (de Quervain’s).
Operative suggestion. FNC repetition, according either to the clinician’s or to the cytopathologist’s judgement, to reduce the false negative results.
